The process of recruitment is not an easy task, as a person has to be appraised on the basis of several factors. A skills inventory is the fundamental part of the Human Resource department of an organization. It summarizes the skills and abilities, qualifications, capacities, experiences, and career motives of an employee that signifies applicants who are convenient for upcoming promotions as well as internal recruiting. Relying upon the volume and intricacy of a business, the procedure of initiating a skills inventory will diverge. Some businesses or companies prefer database programs, on the other hand, several firms use commercial software programs.
Whatever the method you adopt for skills inventory, if the procedure is done accurately, it will provide a unified business inventory of intelligence, knowledge, and here and now experience that a company’s labor pool acquires. By using a skills inventory template, it becomes easy for a person to prepare a skills inventory for his or her organization to judge employees’ skills and abilities. Using this document, the management team can pinpoint any difference, that lies between the skills, expertise, and experience that the firm has in its current staff members, and determine what it requires to fulfill existing and future business goals.
Nevertheless, managers also require information to improve decision making in different fields including hiring staff that is capable to meet the business needs, accreditation of right employees to right responsibilities, targeting training and development efforts, identification of key employees to develop future business needs, developing a workforce agenda for future strategic needs and so on.
